Yearly Schedule of Meetings
As we struggle to balance our personal and professional lives, we tend to put our professional development activities at the bottom of the list. While we all enjoy the NCMA meetings, it is easy to blow them off at the last minute, especially if the agenda or speaker is unknown or uninteresting. In order to encourage participation at our monthly meeting, we will be voting on two proposals:
- Establishing the meeting dates for the coming year. Tentatively set at:
- November 16, 2005
- December 14, 2005
- January 18, 2006
- February 15, 2006
- March 15, 2006
- April 19, 2006
- May 17, 2006
- June 14, 2006
- Establishing an agenda of speakers and round-table discussions. In addition to outside speakers as often as possible, we will be voting on a proposal to create round-table discussion forum. The proposed forum consists of:
- Election or choosing a volunteer to be the round-table facilitator for each of the round-table discussion· Establishing a date for the discussion.
- The Facilitator will be responsible for distributing industry articles via e-mail prior to the meeting and preparing an initial discussion on the topic (10 minutes).
- The topic can then be opened up to the group for discussion.
Given the broad variety of experience among our members, it will be interesting to hear the federal, state and industry perspectives on the chosen topic. Sample topics may include:
- Buy American and Trade Agreements Act
- Small Business Regulations
- Performance Based Contracting· Ethics and the Procurement Official

Thoughts for the Month
Enjoy what's good in your life without always thinking of how it could be better.
Don't be the one who makes a negative comment in a positive situation.
When you want to know what you need to do to improve, ask your mother-in-law.
To improve the chances of a unanimous vote, schedule the meeting for 4:45 P.M. on Friday.
